How to Find Your Own Style

Hello my beauties! Today I want to do a very special post, with a few tips on finding a style and making it truly yours. We often find ourselves unsure of what we want, or even what we really like, or if it fits well, or this or that. The search for our identity in style isn’t easy but once you’ve figured out what you want to project about yourself, it’ll come naturally and you’ll feel comfortable choosing pieces and creating looks that you know you like and are a true reflection of your expression.

One of the keys to doing this, and for me this is the beginning of everything, is knowing and recognizing your body type, what’s flattering and what’s not, and understanding that this shouldn’t limit you from trying new things or getting out of your comfort zone. Don’t understand this to mean you have a mindset of, “This is everything I can’t wear,” but instead look at it as thinking, “What is most flattering for me?” There are plenty of reasons why a piece will be flattering on you, your weight is not the sole defining factor, you also have to remember that colors, textures, and fabrics all play a big role, too. Your skin tone and eye color also influence what might look good or not, and some colors might make you stand out and completely change the perception of a look.

Something else to focus on is your style – are you trendy, or classic? The fact that you identify with one style more than another also doesn’t mean you can’t combine them, and that is so important to understand to take your style to the next level. Look at this as a recipe: you add a dash of one style and a pinch of another and that’s how you really create a style that you feel most comfortable with, just give this a try and have fun in the process! Fashion and style are artistic expressions so let yourself experience them that way, with excitement and creativity.

Read magazines, fashion blogs, and guide yourself by what you like the most. Finding inspiration is crucial, try to open your perspective and always look for inspiration in everything you see and do, you’ll see how the world changes and you start seeing everything from a new point of view, and you’ll see it’s way more fun and entertaining for you, too!

I’m still searching for these same things, and transforming every day. With human evolution the way we dress also changes and obviously your circumstances determine your priorities. Don’t be afraid to change heels for tennis shoes, or anything for that matter. In fashion and any form of expression there are no rules, but there is identity, so stay true to yourself, always! And of course, fabulous and kind…

Y claro, fabulous and kind…

  1. Great post! I love the approach, very positive, to find what not only works for you but what makes you happy. Fashion truly is an artistic expression of ourselves although I never thought about it that way. The nice thing about evolving your style is that trends come and go and come back so naturally changing your style to what makes you feel good makes sense.
