I should confess that when I first saw the “chunky sneaker trend” or “dad sneakers” I looked to the sky and screamed, “WHY GOD WHY!” (I swear) but I know myself and I knew the time would come when I couldn’t resist it anymore.
Designers like Balenciaga and Chanel among others brought this trend back, and I’ll include links in this post so you can check them out!
So my time to listen and use this trend finally came when I was in Nordstrom and I saw them! The colors were the first thing that caught my eye but afterweards the mixture of texture made me say: OK I NEED. I’m a sucker for a good mix of textures and colors!
The truth is with all trends the idea is that you adjust them to you and your personal style. You should never lose your essence, the idea isn’t to dare yourself to do it but to find yourself in the process. I made a post a while back about how to find your style, and I still think this is so relevant, no matter the season, no matter the trend!
In that post I talk about what to do so you always feel comfortable with your decisions when it comes time to get ready and put an outfit together.
In the end I loved the result, but how did I manage for this look to become super OH LOLA?
- The color! I love pink and it’s so me!
- The style, 7 out of every 10 outfits that I wear have a blazer and even though what I’m wearing (a romper) looks like a dress/blazer combo it still has a style that is typical of my looks!
When it comes time to try new trends, aim to make the outfit overall fit you and who you are and how your style is, so the trend doesn’t “take over” the whole outfit! Instead, you’ll see that your personality is what will come out most!
Do you like this trend? Would you give it a try? Let me know in the comments!
Stay Fabulous and Kind
Love, Lola
