I can’t help but get nostalgic at the most random times now – I can’t tell if it’s my weakness or my super power. It’s only August and I feel like fall is just around the corner – which is reason enough, given my wistfulness, to throw together all my favorite moments from the summer so far! I know – you’re probably thinking, but Lola, seriously, we’re barely halfway through summer. But, really, school starts soon and September equals autumn to me, and I wanted to look back at all we’ve done and share with you guys!
We started the summer with an amazing trip to Philly, a beautiful and artistic city really close (just 2 hours away) to Washington. We were happily surprised by how many family-friendly places and events there are – if you’ve never been they have so much for kids, and Vera loved it!
More of the pics show this below, but we also enjoyed 4th of July from our own fantastic city here in D.C., and as usual the firework show did not disappoint! Around this time it was about 100 gazillion degrees – which also meant we got to go to the pool about 100 gazillion times. Seriously, that many. Vera still hasn’t gotten tired of it – and I’m not sure what she’ll want to do when they close it!
This summer was the first where we also really found a great babysitter and we were able to comfortably begin going on date nights! We even got a night out while we were in New York recently, another fun trip we made with my family and we got to see parts of the city we had never visited (how is it possible NY always shows you things you never saw, even though you’ve visited a hundred times?).
One of my favorite details of summer, though, is very recent and I am excited to share with you guys because it’s like my little secret I think you’ll LOVE: we were out at Applebee’s this past week and Mr. P and I tried the Strawberry Dollaritas. Three words. Oh. My. Deliciousness. Throughout all of August these are just $1 and they taste fantastic. It’s made with tequila, strawberry, and margarita mix on the rocks – all the simplicity and all the flavor! We always have genuinely loved Applebee’s because it’s that local place that always nails the food and service on a regular basis – and now they added this fabulous Strawberry Dollarita – and it’s only around a limited time for the season – so refresh yourself right while it’s still hot out there! Drink Responsibly. Drive Responsibly. Must be 21+.
