Oh Lola

I must say, this is without a doubt one of the most fun outfits I’ve put together yet. It’s the outcome of the Fashion Bloggers Venezuela challenge for the month of September #RetoGG. This month’s challenge was to create a look inspired by the style of one of the characters from the show Gossip Girl, and this was like a gift since, I must confess, I was the show’s number one fan! So you can already imagine my reaction when it was decided that this would be the monthly challenge.
I chose one of my favorite characters of course (the truth is I love all of them) but this one in particular has a very special style, her name is Serena van der Woodsen. Serena’s style is eclectic and fun, she plays with as many diverse pieces as she can, mixing and matching prints, styles, and different kinds of fabric. For Serena there are no rules, all pieces are protagonists in the story that is her outfit.

I took advantage of my trip to New York, which is where the show was filmed, to shoot this look. It was amazing to experiment, inspire myself using someone else’s style and try to complement and adjust my taste to create a composition in which two styles are incorporated to generate a look that you end up completely falling for. I recommend playing around a bit with different fabrics, don’t try to simply match the obvious, dabble in the unknown and try a few things that you think at first might not work, I promise if you try enough you’ll eventually get something golden.

Este es uno de los looks más divertidos que he creado, es el resultado del reto de la comunidad de Fashion Bloggers Venezuela del mes de septiembre #RetoGG. El reto era crear un look inspirado en el estilo de alguno de los personajes de la icónica serie Gossip Girl, y debo confesar que fui fan numero 1 de la serie, así que podrán imaginar mi emoción cuando se decidió que este sería el reto del mes.

Yo escogí a uno de mis personajes favoritos (la verdad los amo a todos) pero ella tiene un estilo súper especial, su nombre es Serena van der Woodsen. El estilo de Serena es ecléctico y divertido, juega con la mayor cantidad de piezas posibles, combinando estampados, estilos y tipos de telas diferentes, para ella no hay reglas, todas las piezas son protagonistas.

Aproveché mi viaje a New York (ciudad donde fue grabada la serie) para tomar las fotos de este reto. Fue maravilloso experimentar, inspirarme en el estilo de alguien más, complementar y ajustar a mi gusto y crear una composición en la que dos estilos se incorporan y generan un resultado del que terminas enamorada. Les recomiendo jugar con las telas, los estilos, no traten de combinar, jueguen y prueben cosas que crean que a primera mano no funcionan, de seguro el resultado les sorprenderá.
