Oh Lola

Since I became a Mom time has a completely different meaning – every second counts and every moment ends up, in one way or another, being very special. This weekend Vera turned 8 months old and I really couldn’t believe it. I feel like time is slipping away so fast and I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic as I see my baby become a little less baby-like every day. Managing my time is also much more complicated than it was before (everything is more complicated than before –giggles-), that’s why I’m so excited to do this collaboration with JORD Wood Watches to give you all my essential tips for how I manage my time between work and my life as a wife and mom.

The most important thing is to have your priorities clear – you really do have to put this first before anything else. For us, our priority is Vera, so every time we have to make a decision about how to manage our time, she always comes first. That’s how it works for us at least, but your top priority can be anything, but what’s most significant is to know what it is, because then it’s much easier to make decisions based on that priority.

Then, write it out: I must say it’s hard for me to take the time to write out all of my pending work and to-do’s. The darn “to-do list” is a problem for me, but I highly recommend it. I’ve been working on making it a habit recently, though, and the truth is it’s a complete game-changer. It’s so much easier to finish all I have to do without forgetting anything and there’s nothing like seeing those triumphant checks on the list when everything’s done!

Set time and deadlines for everything. Everything is easier if you motivate yourself with good time management. If you tell yourself that you should go to the gym at 6 a.m., or write something for a blog post at 9 p.m., it’s much more likely that we actually do what we plan and we avoid procrastinating (which is typical of me). Leaving everything for last minute is the worst thing you can do. My recommendation is to have a set schedule that helps and guides you; the more structure, the better!

Desde que soy mamá el tiempo tiene un significado completamente diferente, cada segundo cuenta y todos los momentos son de alguna u otra manera especiales. Este fin de semana Vera cumplió 8 meses y yo no lo puedo creer. Siento que el tiempo se me escapa de las manos y no puedo evitar sentir algo de nostalgia al ver que mi bebé es todos los días menos bebé. Administrar mi tiempo también es mucho más complicado que antes (todo es más complicado que antes –risas–), así que decidí unirme en esta colaboración con la marca de relojes JORD Wood Watches para darles mis tips principales de cómo administro mi tiempo entre mi trabajo y mi vida como esposa y mamá.

Lo más importante es tener tus prioridades claras, y eso siempre ponlo de primero. Para nosotros lo más importante es Vera, así que cada vez que hay que tomar alguna decisión de tiempo sus intereses y comodidad van por delante. Ese es nuestro caso pero tu prioridad puede ser la que sea, lo importante es tenerla clara, así es más fácil tomar decisiones basadas en esa prioridad.

Luego, escribir: debo confesar que me cuesta mucho anotar mis cosas pendientes. La bendita “to do list” es un problema para mí, sin embargo se las súper recomiendo. He venido creando el hábito desde hace poco y la verdad que es un game-changer, es mucho más fácil y más claro terminar todo sin que nada se escape y no hay nada como ver esos chulitos en la lista cuando todo está done!

Si te dices debo ir al gym a las 6 a.m. o escribir para el blog a las 9 p.m., es mucho más probable que realmente hagamos las cosas y no procrastinemos (que era una típica mía). Dejar todo para última hora es lo peor que puedes hacer, mi recomendación es tener un horario que te ayude y te guie, mientras más estructura tengas mejor.
