Oh Lola

To me, as a woman, your hair is your crown – you have to wear it to your liking, always and everywhere. My hair has always been one of my favorite features to style but it’s been a long time since I’ve felt comfortable enough with a salon or a hair stylist to actually repeat and go back. It might sound trivial but if there’s one thing that’s unchanging in and out of pictures it’s that your hair has to look on point all the time. And you guys, I was so lucky to collaborate with Be Scene Studios in Rockville, Maryland to get exactly what I wanted (and had wanted for a long time) – and that is no easy feat -giggles-.

When you envision the studio, think modern meets chic meets beautiful – everything from the look and feel of the place (tall industrial ceilings, walls with bright murals) to the hair stylists themselves mesh so well together, and creates such a calm, cool vibe, making you feel like you’re in the perfect place to get what you want. My stylist was Andrea, and she is an A R T I S T in every sense of the word – she looks at your hair and really creates a vision of what it could be. She did what I think is most important, and that’s listen to what I want and then made a plan of how she would get me there. I’ve wanted much blonder hair for years, since I last had that color when I lived in Venezuela and loved it. Since I’ve moved to the U.S. it’s been much harder to change my hair color at the pace I want – but Andrea really nailed it on the first try.

She talked me through the process we would have to do, which included applying baby lights and the balayage technique, which leads to softer, less noticeable regrowth lines than traditional highlights. She took the time to walk me through each step, and made me feel completely comfortable in her hands – and the result was fantastic. She used Wella and Schwarzkopf hair color products, and added a special formula to keep my hair healthy and look more dynamic than I’ve had it in a long time. A mí siempre me ha parecido que el pelo de una mujer también es su corona – y hay que siempre mantenerlo al gusto, siempre y donde sea que estés. Mi pelo siempre ha sido uno de los rasgos que más me gusta estilizar, pero hacía mucho tiempo que una peluquería o un estilista me hiciera sentir lo suficientemente cómoda para volver. Quizás no suena tan importante, pero si hay algo que nunca cambia, sea en fotos o en la vida real, es que tu pelo siempre tiene que salir bien. Por suerte tuve la oportunidad de colaborar con Be Scene Studios en Rockville, Maryland, para conseguir exactamente lo que quería – y eso no es fácil -risas-.

Cuando piensas en el estudio, piensa en una mezcla perfecta entre ser moderno, chic y bello: todo, desde los techos industriales, los murales en las paredes y todos los estilistas, crean una vibra cool y tranquila, que te hacen sentir que estás en el lugar perfecto para conseguir lo que quieres. Mi estilista es Andrea, y ella es una A R T I S T A en todos los sentidos, y hace lo que es para mí lo más importante, que es escuchar lo que quiero y luego hace un plan de cómo lo va a conseguir. He querido el pelo mucho más rubio (tirando a blanco) por años, puesto que la última vez que lo tuve así fue cuando vivía en Venezuela y me encantaba. Desde que me mudé a Estados Unidos ha sido más difícil cambiar el color al paso que yo quiero, pero Andrea la pegó con su primer intento.

Me habló de todo el proceso, que incluía aplicar baby lights y también la técnica balayage, que es más suave que highlights tradicionales. Tomó el tiempo de explicarme cada paso y me hizo sentir cómoda durante toda la sesión – y el resultado fue maravilloso. Usó productos de Wella y Schwarzkopf para el color, y también aplicó una mezcla especial para que mi pelo luciera más saludable y dinámico que nunca. De una vez quedé con ella para volver antes de mi cumpleaños en febrero porque me encanta tanto su trabajo y me fascinó el resultado.
