Our Easter Morning Traditions + What’s on Vera’s Easter Basket

Easter Morning Traditions. What is in my Toddler's Easter Basket.

Today’s post is very special to me! I love family traditions and from the moment I was lucky
enough to become part of my little family I’ve tried to create traditions for Vera so she
remembers them the rest of her life and they give her something to smile about. Last year we
started a special Easter tradition for the first time, and I absolutely love it! I'm going to share the
things we do and how I mix my Catholic, Latino traditions with American traditions which now
form part of my family and me. Not only do we live in the U.S. but we’re also an interracial and
multicultural family and one of the things that we identify with the most is that we celebrate each
other when we’re together, as husband and wife, and also as parents and daughter.
We make Easter morning celebration a special family moment. So I’ll share all of the little details
that help make our tradition special for us every year!
Breakfast:
We make Vera’s favorite breakfast (which is everyone’s favorite), which are arepas (very
Venezuelan) but we give it an Easter twist with Easter-themed decorations, napkins, and plates!
Easter basket:
Since this is part of the Easter tradition Mr. P is used to, I did my best to combine it with my
traditions, too.
I look for little gifts that are perfect for each of us and that relate to who we are. For example,
this year I got Vera her first bible for kids in Spanish, and a little backpack that is shaped like a
bunny. I of course also got Easter eggs and a few things I knows she loves like bracelets and
sunglasses (she absolutely loves them and they make her so happy).
Art is always good:
We decorate little eggs by painting them and adding some glitter! We both have a little obsession
with both things!
Egg hunt:
We do a little egg hunt at home (we already had one a few weeks ago in my Mother-in- law’s
house, and Vera is already an expert).
Bible reading:
We end the day by reading the bible. Last year, which was Vera’s first Easter, I read, and this
year Mr. P will read to her. But to make the reading a little more interesting and relevant, we try
to do a little research and choose a part of the bible that really relates to where we are as a
family, so we can identify even more with what we’re reading at the time.
I hope these traditions don’t seem too romantic but I just look for ways to strengthen us as a
family, and any way possible to make it easier to enjoy our time together. What I find most

important is sharing our roots with Vera and instilling in her the best memories we both have so
she can have beautiful traditions to hold on to. In one of my recent posts I talked about how I try
to do everything with love, and this is one of the ways I try to do exactly that.

Art is always good:
¡Decoramos los huevitos con pintura y escarcha! ¡Porque nosotras tenemos nuestra obsesión
por ambas dos!
Egg hunt:

Stay Fabulous and Kind
